Disability Information

Banksia Bluff Camp is a basic bush camping site with well maintained sites that are generally flat and clear of overhanging branches. The sites are sheltered by surrounding vegetation. Toilets are standard facilities, and there is a simple bush shower. The picnic area at East Cape Beach has a sealed path to the beach. The toilets and picnic facilities lack accessibility features. The Cape Conran cabins are designed with sensitivity to the surrounding environment.Cabin 3, Sassafras, was designed and built in 1988 as an accessible facility. The cabins are spacious inside, and would be appropriate for most visitors needs.

Precautions :

Weather conditions can change dramatically in this area. Bass Strait is notorious for its sudden squally southerly blusters and unforecast changes - carefully assess conditions before undertaking water based activities. There are venomous snakes within the park including Tiger Snakes, and Brown Snakes. Care should be taken at all times to not disturb snakes if you come across them. If you are bitten by a snake seek immediate medical attention or call 000. If taking part in a walk ensure that you have sufficient drinking water, as dehydration is a serious hazard especially in the summer months. It is essential to wear sunscreen and a hat to protect against sunburn in the short term and the risks of skin cancer in the longer term. On days of high UV this is especially important.  

Fire

The greatest risk to our park is fire. Over the past summer we were very lucky to escape the ravages of bushfire. Please take great care with fires; use fireplaces provided only. On hot or windy days, do not light fires. Lighting fires on a TOTAL FIRE BAN DAY is a criminal offence and attracts heavy penalties including a possible gaol term.
